Green Lake

This 259-acre freshwater lake in Seattle is located north of Lake Union and is bordered by the Wallingford, Phinney Ridge, and Green Lake neighborhoods. It is also bordered by Woodland Park on its southwest corner. The lake is surrounded by a 2.8-mile path, perfect for walking, bicycling, and roller-skating.

The lake itself is popular for swimming, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, and more. Boats and paddle boards can be rented from Green Lake Boat Rentals at the northeast corner of the lake. The Seattle Canoe and Kayak Club at the southwest corner of the lake offers a variety of rowing classes through the Green Lake Small Craft Center.

Green Lake and the park that encompasses it is a popular destination, so summer weekends can get pretty crowded, and parking can be a bear – best to hit it on a weekday if possible.
