Of the many things that Discovery Park in Seattle has to offer, the West Point Lighthouse is one of the best. From here you can enjoy stunning views of the Puget Sound, sit on the rocks and listen to the water lapping up onto the shore, feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your back as you take in the sailboats and freighters passing by. If you get lucky, you might even see a seahawk diving into the cool waters to catch a fresh fish for dinner.

To visit the lighthouse, your best bet is to stop in first at the Visitor Center, where they can direct you to the walking trails that lead down to the beach and lighthouse. The trip back up the bluff from the lighthouse can be a bit strenuous, so if you're not in decent physical shape, or you've got small kids in tow, there's a shuttle bus that will take you down to the lighthouse from the Visitor Center. You can also get a parking permit to drive down and park at the lighthouse if you have a handicapped person or small children in your party.
